Lois Bryant uses a rich color palette, complex weave structures, and simple yet animated forms to evoke mood and mystery in her work.  She expresses loss, change, growth, spirituality, and hope by creating illusions of depth, movement, transparency, and luminosity.

Bryant enjoys the technical challenges of complex weave structures and has developed a unique weave that combines elements of lampas and warp brocade. In past centuries, complex weaves such as these were woven on drawlooms that required two people to operate, or on Jacquard looms.  Bryant primarily uses computer-aided, multi-harness AVL handlooms.  She develops her designs using Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, pencil and paper, collage, and photography.

Most weavings are of silk, cotton, and metallic yarns.
