The Ground Beneath My Feet

Beauty can be found in ordinary, unexpected and neglected places, such as parking lots and sidewalks. I focus on the planned and accidental elements of places where the human-made and natural environments meet and interact. These elements are clues to the histories of these small patches of earth and humankind’s attempts to control and contain nature.

I have translated this imagery in a variety of ways, including mixed media, weaving, installation art, and projection. I painstakingly recreate neglected patches of ground, using unexpected materials, and giving them a new context. Through this artwork, I hope that you will join me in contemplating the land and the impact we have on the natural world.
